Mail Call from Bettina in Arizona!

Collection Details
Another exciting mail call in the books! This collection just arrived from Bettina in Arizona — 18 cars total, with some beautiful Sweet 16 cars included. Always a thrill to unwrap early Redline history.
This group features two Custom Camaros, a Custom Volkswagen, a Custom T-Bird, and a Custom Fleetside — all part of the original “Sweet 16” lineup released by Hot Wheels in 1968. These were the very first cars ever produced by Mattel under the Hot Wheels name, and they changed the die-cast world forever with their Spectraflame paint and fast-rolling Redline wheels.
The Custom Camaro is one of the true icons of the Sweet 16. Designed by Harry Bradley, it was inspired by the real 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and has become one of the most recognizable and collected Redlines of all time. Early production details and color variations always make these exciting finds.
The Custom Volkswagen, based on the classic Beetle, brought a fun California custom vibe to the original lineup. It perfectly captured the late-60s car culture scene and remains a favorite for collectors who love the unique castings from that first year.
The Custom T-Bird was modeled after the 1967 Ford Thunderbird and featured a sleek, sporty look that fit right in with the performance feel Hot Wheels was pushing at launch. It’s a great example of how the brand blended real American cars with custom styling.
The Custom Fleetside, inspired by the Chevrolet pickup trucks of the era, is another standout from the original 16. Clean lines, bold colors, and that classic Redline stance make it a must-have casting in any early collection.
There’s just something special about holding cars from that first 1968 release. The Sweet 16 truly set the foundation for everything that followed. Grateful to add these pieces of Hot Wheels history to the collection.
If you or someone you know has any Hot Wheels Redlines tucked away, feel free to reach out and message me—always happy to talk Redlines!
