1969 Hot Wheels Redline McLaren M6A

One of the standout racers from Hot Wheels’ 1969 Grand Prix series, the McLaren M6A was based on the legendary Can-Am race car developed by Bruce McLaren.

The real M6A made its racing debut in 1967 and was a major force in the Can-Am series. Bruce McLaren drove one to the 1967 Can-Am Championship, while teammate Denny Hulme finished second.

The Hot Wheels version, designed by Ira Gilford, features an opening rear hatch that reveals a detailed metal engine. It was produced in both the USA and Hong Kong in a wide range of Spectraflame colors, along with orange enamel to match the real race car. Some U.S. versions can also be found with the less-common brown interior.

Fun collector detail: the U.S. and Hong Kong versions have noticeable differences, including the windshield color, base design and front-fender vents.

A 1969 Redline that perfectly captures the speed and style of late-1960s Can-Am racing.
