1970- Boss Hoss silver Special

Updated: Oct 3

Introducing the sleek Boss HOSS in stunning silver chrome, crafted based on the Ford Mustang two-door fastback. Designed exclusively for a special promotion to recruit new Hot Wheels Club members.

Becoming an official Hot Wheels Club member not only grants you this brilliant silver chrome car but also an entire membership kit, shipped in a specially designed Club Kit box. The kit includes a Hot Wheels official membership card, an iron-on transfer, a Hot Wheels Club Kit magazine, and an official Hot Wheels membership certificate.

While the Boss Hoss was set to debut in the Spoiler Series the following year (1971), the regular Spoilers lineup would later feature models in various spectraflame colors—excluding the "Silver Special."

This Silver Special Boss Hoss, unique to the promotion, came with an exclusive matching collector button named the "Boss Hoss Silver Special." Despite initial ads promoting only the silver Boss Hoss as the official club car, an overwhelming response led to stock shortages. Mattel substituted the Boss Hoss Silver Special with readily available alternatives—the Heavy Chevy and the King Kuda—both issued in silver chrome for the promotion.

In anticipation of substitutes running out, Mattel promptly initiated a large production run for the intended official Club Kit Car, the "Boss Hoss Silver Special," along with chrome Heavy Chevy and chrome King Kuda. Throughout the promotion, a single Boss Hoss Silver Special collector button was issued in the "Club Kit," regardless of the car sent to new Hot Wheels Club Members.

These three chrome Club Kit cars were available with either a black or white interior, with the white interior being rarer and more sought after among collectors. 🏎 #HotWheelsClub #BossHossSilverSpecial
