Collection mail day from Troy in Wisconsin!
This box is packed with Flying Colors and Super Chromes, and it’s a great snapshot of the later Redline era. Flying Colors debuted in 1973 and were a big shift from the earlier Spectraflame paints. Instead of translucent finishes over bare metal, these used solid, opaque colors that really popped on the shelf and gave the cars a bold, graphic look. They marked a turning point as Hot Wheels moved into a new design direction.
Super Chromes followed soon after and are fan favorites. These cars were finished in bright, polished chrome colors, making them some of the flashiest Redlines ever produced. Because the chrome plating was prone to wear, clean originals are tougher to find today, which makes nice examples especially fun to add to a collection.
Always exciting to open a box and find this much color and shine inside. Big thanks to Troy for a great Wisconsin mail call!
