1972- Open Fire

Casting Details
Spotlighting the Hot Wheels Redline Open Fire — one of the most unique castings from the original era. Designed as a stretched, wild custom version of the AMC Gremlin, this model was only released for a single year, which makes it an uncommon find in any color.
Mattel took the Gremlin idea and dialed it up to eleven. They imagined it powered by a massive 12-cylinder Lycoming aircraft engine producing over 1,000 horsepower. With that kind of power, the designers added extra wheels up front to help keep it on the ground and give it a more stable, futuristic look.
The result is one of the most memorable and outrageous castings of the Redline years — part muscle car, part aircraft, all Hot Wheels imagination.
